Following the speech by Lord Grade, Ofcom at advertising industry summit LEAD, we have issued the below statement.

“We welcome Lord Grade’s constructive speech about Ofcom’s new duties under the Online Safety Act and note his call to the advertising industry to focus on responsible growth, keeping ahead of potential harms and fraud and making trust and safety its top priority. We are already in a position of strength: the ASA is a world-class regulator and its pro-active AI-driven regulation is expanding rapidly. Lord Grade also recognised the contributions of the IAB’s Gold Standard and the success of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM). The Advertising Association and many of its members are also engaged in the Online Advertising Taskforce and its Action Plan, as it presents a unique opportunity, as Lord Grade said, to help our sector renew its leadership in creative quality and regulatory standards.”
