The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

Industry News

So, what’s the weather going to be like in 2050 then? The big new ad campaign ‘Weather Kids’ hit the silver screens yesterday and it’s featured in our A this week. It follows UNDP’s hugely successful Don’t Choose Extinction which saw a raptor, voiced by Jack Black, walk into the UN and deliver a lecture urging humans to learn from the lessons of the dinosaurs and take action to avoid extinction.

This new one’s a great campaign, with lots of different angles including a call for all parents to take a pledge. This is an ad that every cinema goer is probably going to see over the next few months. So, our wonderful friends at Pearl & Dean have supported us by popping a 15-second ad for our book, up around the new ‘Weather Kids’ ad.

Which is pretty awesome. Here’s the problem, here’s what advertising can do about it…

Sustainable Advertising continues to gain attention through webinars, events, podcasts and even, this week, filming for a documentary.

And finally… a huge congratulations to the Advertising Producers Association Chief Executive, Steve Davies, who was awarded a Fellowship at last night’s British Arrows in London. Steve is a fantastic ambassador for the ad production community in the UK and around the world – I’ve witnessed him in action first-hand on many occasions and his passion for the role and the sector just shines through. Oh, and the APA show is one of my favourite nights of the year!
