The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

LAUNCHING AD NET ZERO GLOBAL

Yesterday afternoon, live from the Debussy Theatre at Cannes Lions, we announced that Ad Net Zero – advertising’s response to the climate emergency – is expanding into major international markets.

Ten of the world’s leading advertising companies and ten international trade bodies have joined together in support of this expansion. We have also launched a brand-new website to house all-things Ad Net Zero – adnetzero.com – so please do check that out!

Th climate crisis is one of the most pressing issues we face and the advertising industry can play an important role in driving positive change. This announcement is a huge step forwards for Ad Net Zero and we are very proud of this progress.

GREENWASHING – HAVAS CAFE

Yesterday morning our Communications Director, Matt Bourn, joined Isa Kurata of Act Responsible and Mr Goodvertising, Thomas Kolster, to talk about greenwashing with host, Jessica Joli.

Matt covered many of the things we’re doing in the UK, including the importance of the ASA and its work on misleading environmental claims, the great initiative, #ChangeTheBrief, and the role of government alongside businesses and people to tackle the climate change together. When asked to sum up Sustainability in three words, his reply was simple – Ad Net Zero.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM YESTERDAY

Our UK mascot, Paddington Bear, headed to lots of sessions at Cannes Lions. First stop was the Havas Cafe yesterday morning.
