On Tuesday, we put on our running shoes to join – once again – The Marketing Society’s annual Sprintathon, hosted in partnership with Cancer Research UK and Direct Line, with profits going to Stand Up To Cancer UK and The Marketing Society to support the rising talent of the future. The event was sponsored by Google and it combined a total of 105 teams of four. The teams had to complete a relay of 400m (100m per person) consecutively until 42.2km – that’s the distance of a marathon in just under two hours!
The event was hosted in Battersea Park’s Millennium Arena and, amongst the runners, we could see racing bananas and unicorns. Our determined (and competitive!) team, comprised only 3 sprinters out of 4: Nick Oliverio, Research and Insights Manager, Credos; Sierra Flanagan, Junior Data Scientist, Credos; and Lewis Wood, Communications Intern, who ran an impressive fastest lap time of 58 seconds, which was one of the fastest on the day.
The marathon was finished in just 2h02min and 02secs, raising the impressive amount of £52,000 in benefit of Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign. Stand Up To Cancer UK provides research on the battle against cancer. We couldn’t be prouder to be supporting lifesaving research to help beat cancer.
A massive thank you from all of us here at the AA and well done to each of the 105 teams that took part!
