Industry News

We held the 60th anniversary edition of our Media Business Course from 9-12 July at The Grand in Eastbourne.

Our 2024 Media Business Course wrapped up in style with the three finalist syndicates presenting their pitches for the client’s brief to the rest of the syndicates and our expert judging panel.

But before the pitches and the reveal of the winner, delegates had the opportunity to learn how you can overcome adversity and the art of opening your mind to creativity.

Thursday, day three, of MBC was all about creativity and inspiration. The day began with an introduction from our MBC convenor, Mihir Haria-Shah from Channel 4. This was followed by the first session and keynote on how you can overcome adversity and why it is important to take the path of most resistance by Simon Daglish OBE, from ITV.

The second session was filled with inspiration. Kevin Chesters, Author of The Creative Nudge talked our delegates through the process of creativity, how to tap into it and why it is the key to progress.

Day three also saw the announcement of judges and ended with an excellent gala dinner and a DJ set from Jay London from Capital XTRA.

Our MBC finally came to an end on Friday with the much-awaited pitch day!

The day started off with an announcement of the shortlisted syndicates and some feedback from the judges. After a competitive morning of presentations, the judges decided the winner was syndicate 6, whose mix of strategy, planning and creativity captivated the judges. A massive congratulations to Syndicate 6 who took home the trophy!

Syndicate 6 was comprised of Mary Cusack from Astus Group, Emma Bowskill from Channel 4, Zoe Hodgson from Clear Channel UK, Ellie Knowles from Global, Emma O’Connor from Google, Jake Moores from Havas Media UK, James Cable from JAA Media, Charlie Nibbelke from Performics, Louis Hawking from Sky Media UK and Nastya (Anastasia) Efremova from Spotify.

A massive congratulations goes out not only to syndicate 6 but also to everyone who attended MBC 2024.

Thank you to everyone involved in what was a brilliant week in Eastbourne, including our inspirational speakers, judges, and delegates. We could not have done it without you!

We hope everyone had a brilliant time over the week and came away feeling inspired whilst taking some valuable insights with them. Till next year!
