The Local Democracy Reporting Scheme, the joint initiative by the New Media Association and BBC, has recently expanded to include news platforms aimed at black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in the UK to help its journalism reach a wider audience. It was announced in February 2020 that Bradford-based Asian Sunday and London-based Eastern Eye were the first BAME publications to join the scheme, which also includes the news hub, which gives news websites access to BBC video news content, and the shared data unit, which trains journalists seconded from partner organisations and produces data-led stories.
