It’s September, and there’s a sense that the summer is over, so we’re looking forward to an exciting autumn – it’s set to be a busy one!
It all starts proper next week as our Working Groups across workstreams for Public Trust in Advertising, Climate Action and Inclusion all meet up. We are also in the final stages of preparing to leave AA towers in time for October’s move to Covent Garden. There’s much exciting news to come from the likes of our PA team’s work on key issues around HFSS, Brexit and our work with Government on the Recovery plan, as well as Credos, our Climate Action work and our partnership with PWC. For now, let’s just say – watch this space!
We are delighted to be a partner of Advertising Week 2020, which will kick off on the 29th September. We have always been a part of Advertising Week Europe and this special global gathering promises to be a real treat. Taking place over eight days and across six global markets, you will be able to hear great ideas from interesting and impactful academics, technologists, marketers, brands, creatives and more.
We have the honour of kicking off the eight-day event with a debate on how the industry has responded to the Covid-19 crisis. Speakers will include our President Keith Weed, Harriet Kingly of the Conscious Advertising Network, Nicola Mendelsohn CBE of Facebook and our Chair Philippa Brown of PHD. You can read more about this session here.
Our UK Advertising Export Group (UKAEG) will also be participating in a session on the first day of the event on UK advertising’s role in making work for clients all around the world. Speakers include our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, and Steve Davies, CEO of the Advertising Producers Association. Read more about this session here.
On Friday 2nd October, UK Advertising’s Think Tank, Credos, will reveal new research on how advertising’s work during coronavirus/lockdown has had a positive impact on the public’s trust of advertising. Speakers will include our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, and Heather Young, Project Director at Credos. Find more on this session here.
Stephen will also be speaking at a session alongside Sam Tomlinson of PwC on what’s next for Britain’s creative industries and whether they can deliver soft power and commercial success in a post-Covid, post-Brexit world on Friday 2nd October. Read more here.
As part of London Tech Week, on Monday 7th September, the Creative Industries Council is hosting a free Createch event which will attract a global audience of innovators, creators, makers and investors from across the creative and technology sectors.
At 12.40pm on Monday, an advertising session will take place on harnessing blockchain technology (DLT) to solve the issues of trust and transparency in the online digital advertising ecosystem. You will be able to hear the results of the first global prototype if you attend. The speakers for this session are Jules Kendrick (MD UK & Europe, Trustworthy Accountability Group), Tim Brown (CEO, Fiducia) and Nigel Vaz (Global CEO, Publicis Sapient & IPA President). Read more about this event and find the agenda here.
