We are delighted to announce that registration is now open for our 9th annual LEAD summit on 30 January 2020! This isn’t the only exciting news either – we’re moving to a new venue, the QEII Centre in Westminster, AND we’re introducing the opportunity for younger advertising professionals to attend the event at a specially discounted price.
LEAD is established as the place where advertising meets politics, bringing together the heads of the UK advertising industry to set the agenda for the year ahead in partnership with leaders from across the political landscape.
LEAD 2019, which took place at the beginning of this year, saw a stellar line-up of speakers including Tom Watson MP, Broadcaster Evan Davis, WPP Country Manager Karen Blackett OBE and Dr Pippa Malmgren. On Tuesday our Public Affairs team hosted a Public Affairs Lunch for PA representatives from across the membership.
Discussions included the Birmingham Commonwealth Games Bill (which includes restrictions on advertising in the vicinity of the Games & event venues, as well as an Association Right which aims to protect sponsors and prevent ‘ambush marketers’ from suggesting an association with the Games); the AA Trust Action Plan; food advertising; recent consultation responses and our parliamentary outreach. Speaking of Parliament, we are hosting our annual Parliamentary Reception on November 27 – you can find all the details on that over on our website here.
In other Public Affairs news, we have just launched a new feature on our website where you can find all of our AA Government consultation submissions and responses in one place. You can take a look and download the submissions here.
Yesterday morning we welcomed fellow communicators from across our membership to AA towers for our twice-yearly comms leaders meeting. We host this meeting in order to bring everyone up to date with all of our recent and upcoming activity, and also discuss ways in which we can better work together across the membership in the future.
This time we were also joined by Maddie Burns, Head ofEngagement and Communications at the GREAT Britain Campaign and Anil Manji, new Advertising Partnership Lead at GREAT Partnerships Team, with whom we worked closely on our Cannes activity. Maddie updated attendees on Government activity in our sector and how AA members can get involved in showcasing the strength of the UK’s creative industries on the global stage. She spoke of the support for our sector that exists across Government and highlighted the UK’s success atCannes Lions and the importance of the industry to the UK economy.
