The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

AA Scotland members meet in Edinburgh

On Wednesday, Commercial Director Sharon Lloyd Barnes met with members of AA Scotland at the offices of the Scotch Whisky Association in a very busy Fringe-packed Edinburgh. Discussions included the upcoming LEAD Scotland event as well as the next Advertising Pays report from the industry’s think tank Credos.

Excitement builds about the programme for LEAD Scotland which has secured several high profile new speakers, including Business Minister Jamie Hepburn MSP, Editor of The Drum Stephen Lepitak, and Director of Brand Scotland Cat Leaver. Head here to find out more about the event and to book your ticket.

While in Edinburgh, the AA team also had briefings with journalists from The Scotsman, Daily Business and The Times to discuss the Scottish ad industry and LEAD Scotland. Many thanks to our colleagues from the SWA for hosting the AA Scotland meeting.

Ads on tour

The AA Public Affairs team has also been in Scotland this week, accompanying MSP Deirdre Brock (Edinburgh North and Leith) on a tour of some of the prestigious advertising and production agencies to showcase the creativity and diversity of the advertising industry in her constituency. The group started at the Leith Agency for discussions with Partner Brian Coane, before moving on to Finiflex, a sound production studio where they joined a client meeting for an NHS Digital mindfulness app specifically geared towards young people in schools.

The event finished off at Freakworks, which specialises in post-production. The tour demonstrated the scale of the Scottish ad sector and how advertising and the wider creative industries are connected in the country. For more information on the event contact Mark Johnson.
