The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

AD NET ZERO SUPPORTERS REVEALED

Yesterday, Ad Net Zero, UK advertising’s response to the climate emergency, announced its supporter base as it readies for a critical year in climate action.

The supporters, from across the advertising industry, have all contributed to help UK advertising achieve net zero by end 2030 through funding, specialist expertise and resourcing. The group met for the first time this month in a meeting chaired by Sebastian Munden, EVP & General Manager, Unilever UK & Ireland, to drive the activation of the Ad Net Zero Action Plan, which you can find more on here.

Stephen Woodford, Advertising Association Chief Executive, said: “First, thanks to all the supporters from across our industry that have come together to make a fast start on this Action Plan. As a collective, our ambition is to set our industry on a clear path to net zero with immediate actions to measure, track and reduce the carbon impact of the way our industry operates. We will also be focusing on how UK advertising’s creativity can support the rapid shifts in consumer behaviour needed to address the climate emergency that we all face.”

COMMENTING ON THE LOCKDOWN ANNOUNCEMENT

Following Monday’s announcement by the Prime Minister on the timetable for lifting lockdown, our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, issued a statement.

Stephen commented: “We welcome today’s announcement from the Prime Minister and the timetable for the gradual lifting of restrictions. The NHS and the government should be commended for the rapid roll-out of the vaccine programme which offers real and significant light at the end of the tunnel. Our industry is ready to do everything it can to support the economic and social recovery, through work that delivers vital public health messages and support to businesses that drives growth, creates jobs and helps rebuild consumer confidence.”

PUBLICIS GROUPE UK LAUNCHES THE OPEN APPRENTICESHIP

Yesterday, Publicis Group UK launched The Open Apprenticeship (OA) to help young people from marginalised communities find jobs in the advertising industry.

The OA is an interactive platform that offers an entry point for people keen to learn the fundamentals of the industry, understand the types of role on offer and the career opportunities available. The outreach will initially focus on reaching young people from ethnic minority and low income backgrounds and by 2022, the outreach will be widened to attract talent from other underrepresented groups, including disabled people.

Our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, commented: “Publicis Groupe’s Open Apprenticeship programme offers transformational opportunities for young people, whatever their backgrounds and in turn, they will help to transform our industry as they develop their careers onwards from these apprenticeships.”
