On the hottest day of the year, July 25, team AA decided to do what any sane and normal group of colleagues would do and ran a marathon. But this was a marathon with a difference.
Front Foot Chairman Mark Evans has been the driving force behind the annual Sprintathon event, which since 2016 has raised money in aid of cancer research by bringing together groups of people to run a marathon in 100m sprint relays. This year the teams of 4 each took up the challenge down at the 400-metre Olympic Park Community Track in Stratford, East London. This year was also the first time it was a cross-Adland event and the first to be held in partnership with Campaign magazine. Over 60 agencies, media owners, publishers and trade bodies took part and ran the combined marathon distance in less than two hours (1.50.56 to be exact). Welcome refreshments were served post-race to the thirsty runners courtesy of AA member Clear Channel, and Miroma Group.
The AA’s crack team of budding Olympians consisted of our Executive Assistant and Office Manager Holly Bullen, PA Executive Ed Butler, Commercial Executive Nwora Emenike, and Communications Executive Ellie Mason. The event has so far raised almost £100,000 for the cause of cancer research. You can make you donation here.
