THE GREAT DEBATE
On Tuesday the Debating Group, led by us and CIM, returned to the corridors of power for our first in-person debate in Parliament since the start of the pandemic. We spent the evening debating the motion “The Government’s ‘Global Britain’ ambitions currently far outstrip the abilities of the UK’s talent pool” with Boots’ Pete Markey and DMA’s Kate Burnett battling for the motion and London Advertising’s Michael Moszynski and our very own International Trade Director, Aisling Conlon, putting up the fight against.
Chaired by Tulip Siddiq MP, our new group President, the debate saw fantastic points on skills, talent and our industry’s export growth, but eventually the motion was passed. It was also the final debate of current Chairman, Andrew Marsden, who passed on the torch to our CEO Stephen Woodford. Here’s to many more great debates in the future!

TALKING TALENT AT MEDIA360
This week, we headed to sunny rainy Brighton for Campaign’s Media360 event.
This influential two-day conference gathers senior leaders from global brands, agencies and media owners. The event was packed with insight, inspiration and lively debate on the biggest issues impacting our industry.
Our President and Chief Customer Officer of Tesco, Alessandra Bellini, opened the event, talking about the talent crisis that our industry faces and highlighting the set up of our Talent Taskforce.
She said: “There is a shortage of talent in the industry, but there’s so much potential for growth, from truly representing and connecting the people of this country and creating growth for brands”.
You can learn more about the challenges she’s identified within our industry at our dedicated hub.
THE FUTURE IS FEMALE
On June 30th, WACL is heading to Manchester for its event ‘How to truly lead with creative bravery in an uncertain world’. The session is part of WACL’s Talent Sessions on Creative Bravery, and it is in support of female leaders and talent across advertising, media and communications.
This thought-provoking event features a fantastic line-up of speakers. The panel will be hosted by Dawn Paine, CEO and Co-Founder of Aurora, who will be joined by Karen Blackett OBE, Jane Callingham and Sam Gregory.
As well as the panel debate, a buffet lunch will be provided – with the opportunity to network with other attendees.

A WARMER CHRISTMAS AT THE AA
Yesterday, after rearranging it three times, we finally had our belated Christmas party!
It was so lovely to gather the whole team together to enjoy some delicious food and bust out our favourite tunes at our much waited-for karaoke session. It’s safe to say we won’t be going on the X-factor any time soon…
It really made us realise how much we’ve missed in-person gatherings. A reminder that our office is always open for coffee catch-ups and meetings, so please do swing by and say hello if you’re near Berners St!
