The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

WE ARE PLANET MARK CERTIFIED

We are delighted to announce that the Advertising Association has achieved the Planet Mark certification!

This means that we have calculated and reported our carbon emissions for 2020. The AA has now a low footprint – just over 6 tonnes of CO2 as a business, about 0.3 tonnes per employee.  Even though this is low, it is an important process for us all to understand and do what we can do to reduce this further. This measurement is in line with all the Ad Net Zero supporters that are also on their journey to measure and report their carbon emissions. Like all Ad Net Zero members, the AA has committed to achieving net zero carbon output by 2030 and measurement is key to achieving that objective.

Planet Mark is a carbon consultancy with the aim of recognising the commitment to continuous improvement; measuring and reducing business’ carbon emissions, energy and water consumption, travel and waste.

ADGREEN PRODUCTION CARBON CALCULATOR

Yesterday morning AdGreen hosted its second Breakfast Briefing event, which included a sneak peek of its production carbon calculator and an interview with Bryony Harrison-Miller from Get Set Hire.

AdGreen’s new online carbon calculator will launch on 29 September and be free at the point of use for the advertising production community, thanks to contributions from participating advertisers to the AdGreen levy on production spend.

You can pre-register your company for the carbon calculator here. Companies who would like their staff to use AdGreen’s carbon calculator will need to be set up by the AdGreen team. To speed things up, their developers will do a bulk set up of companies ahead of the tool’s launch. Once a company is registered, staff will be able to apply for access immediately.

You can watch the Breakfast Briefing event on demand here.

VISIBLE START

Visible Start is the first digital media training course designed for women with the industry’s most underrated qualification: life experience. They don’t care what you’ve done before, they only care what you want to do now.

The course starts in October and over 8 weeks of online video tutorials and virtual events, they’ll introduce you to digital media, teach you the basics of marketing, media and agency roles and identify the transferable skills you have that the industry needs in abundance. They’ll build your confidence, build your network, create a community. The programme will launch in London and is open to women over the age of 45 from all backgrounds and all walks of life.

The course is flexible, because it is understood that you have commitments, and accessible, because inclusivity matters. There are 20 ring fenced roles at WPP agencies in London exclusively for Visible Start graduates, but everyone will have continued mentorship and guidance and receive updates on job opportunities at Brixton Finishing School partner companies as they come up after the course is over.
