The recent All In Census highlights the fact that Black talent is most underrepresented at the leadership level.
There is an onus on organisations to more effectively lead, build and promote a team that provides Black people with equal opportunities.
At OMG UK, we have a D&I programme in place based around Action and Accountability with defined KPIs and targets. One of the ways we are providing Black talent tailored support to progress in their career is via the creation of a new ‘Multicultural Sponsorship Programme’ in partnership with Business in the Community to increase diversity at senior levels across the group.
This 12-month programme, which launched in May 2021, pairs senior leaders from across the group with colleagues from multicultural backgrounds to support their career progression by:
“Senior leadership are sponsoring 25 people across the six agencies in this pilot programme. Although it’s too early in the timeline to highlight any key outcomes, we have received positive feedback from sponsors and sponsees alike. Unlike mentoring, sponsorship allows the sponsors to get personally involved and help drive the career progression of the sponsee.”
