On the appointment of Humza Yousaf as SNP Leader, the Advertising Association, which represents its members in Scotland, has issued the below statement.
Stephen Woodford, CEO, Advertising Association, said:
“The Advertising Association welcomes Humza Yousaf as Scotland’s new First Minister. Advertising is a key driver of economic growth – every £1 spent on advertising generates £5 for the Scottish economy, supporting jobs, businesses, and the creative and media industries.
With a long track-record in supporting the Scottish Government on behaviour change campaigns, our industry can play a productive role in helping the new administration to respond to key issues, including the cost-of-living crisis and areas of public health concern.
For example, we look forward to engaging with the First Minster and his team as they consider next steps on the early-stage proposals to ban alcohol advertising and marketing. There are a great many examples of constructive projects between Government, the advertising and drinks industries, and civic society, for the benefit of people living in Scotland, and we hope the Government builds on this as an approach.”
