The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

THE FUTURE IS IN OUR (BR)ANDS

We are really excited to be a Media Partner for Mediatel’s The Future of Brands event on April 27 & 28. It is the media strategy event for marketers at the world’s leading brands and, this year, the event will tackle the theme of accelerating growth in a complex and quickly changing market.

Our CEO, Stephen Woodford, will be speaking on the first day at the ‘It’s time to be leaders: Delivering net-zero by 2030’ session. Stephen will be joined by our Ad Net Zero Chair, Sebastian Munden (EVP & General Manager, Unilever UK&I) and Ad Net Zero member, Helen Brain (Strategy Director & Joint Head of Social Change, Mediacom). The panel will discuss how brands, along with their agency and media partners across the industry, are demonstrating real leadership and collaboration on climate action. Learn more about the session here.

Our Commercial Director & Inclusion Lead, Sharon Lloyd Barnes, will also be speaking in a session on the second day called ‘Battling barriers and building bridges: The pathway to our inclusive industry’. In this panel session, Sharon will be joined by Jerry Daykin (VP, Head of Media, Beam Suntory) and Suman Karki (Marketing Chapter Lead, Direct Line Group). They will discuss the progress made since the release of the All In Census results, the areas of focus moving forward, and how brands can step up. Find more details about the session here.

SUPPORTING UKRAINE

We recently launched a Ukraine support hub on our website to help understand the ongoing situation. It includes the latest news on what our industry is doing to support Ukrainians as well as Government advice and information on a job opportunity platform – we encourage you to take a look and post any roles that you possibly can. We have also shared a compilation of initiatives from our members in support of Ukraine.

We are updating these pieces every day and would like to keep sharing how our industry peers can help. If you have an initiative that we can share, please contact aa@adassoc.org.uk so we can feature it on our hub.

RISE AND SHINE

Creative Equals’ RISE event is back this year under the theme of inclusive leadership. RISE 2022 is a leadership day out for upcoming and existing marketing and creative leaders. It’s a top-down, grassroots up cyclical movement to clear the pathways to business-critical roles for diverse voices. On the day they celebrate adland’s ‘Future Leaders’ with Campaign – revealing 30 of the industry’s emerging female, non-binary, and GNC creative talent. RISE aims for ALL voices to influence culture, campaigns, consumers and communities by creating representative leadership.

We are delighted to see that our inclusion initiative, All In, will be featured at the event.
