The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

ADVERTISING MARKS KING’S CORONATION

A big weekend ahead as the UK prepares for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Helicopters hovered overhead yesterday around the AA offices – we thought we’d done something wrong, but it turns out William and Kate had gone for a pre-coronation tipple in Soho’s Dog & Duck!

Brands are getting involved in the celebrations too.

Tesco have opened their own special pub for the event and are running a campaign that promises to donate £250,000 from their coronation food range sales to the Prince’s Trust foundation.

And our Front Foot member, Transport for London have planned special commemorative ‘crowndels’ to be placed over some iconic London underground stations.

Our friends at Newsworks have supplied us with some of the best examples of coronation themed brand campaigns.

GOLD IS SO LAST YEAR – WE’RE PLATINUM!

We did it!

The AA has achieved the IPA’s CPD Platinum Accreditation after we achieved CPD Gold Accreditation for four years in a five-year period.

Here’s what the IPA’s judges have to say: “A renewed approach to CPD in 2022, combined with strong commitment & excellent role modelling, ensures that the AA’s people are at the heart of their business – positively impacting and adding value for their members!”

NETWORK AT OUR DEBATING GROUP’S SUMMER RECEPTION

We’re excited to announce the Debating Group’s Annual Reception will take place on Wednesday 7 June from 7-9pm at the prestigious Terrace Pavilion in the House of Commons. We can safely say it’s a great spot to enjoy a glass of fizz by the Thames!

Hosted by the group’s President, Tulip Siddiq MP, it’s a brilliant moment in the diary to network with industry colleagues and discuss the political issues of the day.

The Debating Group is chaired by our CEO, Stephen Woodford, and the reception will be a celebration of the group’s value in bringing marketers and politicians together to shine a light on the key political issues that affect the advertising and marketing industries.

If you fancy taking part in a debate, the next one is on May 24, 2023, and it’s all about AI.

The motion is: “Artificial Intelligence is less threatening to the public relations and marketing practitioners than the lack of professional development across both industries”

It’s sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, chaired by Tulip Siddiq MP and will be held in the House of Commons.
