The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

TO START 2023 . . . 

Happy New Year from all of us here at the AA as we prepare for an exciting year ahead.  

2023 will start with a bang with the return of our flagship industry event, LEAD. The half-day event is back in person at the fabulous Leicester Square Odeon on January 25.  

Speakers include: Michelle Donelan MP, Culture Secretary and Lucy Powell MP, Shadow DCMS Secretary of State. Both parliamentarians will outline their party’s vision for the future of our industry.

In other news, this month we will be publishing our Annual Review, giving you insightful access into our work on behalf of our members.  

We will also be announcing our new 3-year strategy which will set out our plan on how to deliver on behalf of our members in support of the industry’s biggest opportunities and challenges.

YEARS AND YEARS AHEAD

Sharon and Matt from Team AA were out and about at the Year Ahead events which took place this week. It was brilliant to see venues filled with advertising industry folk, catching up after the festive break.  

Congrats to the Campaign and Mediatel teams for delivering great in-person events, simultaneously streamed live for those who couldn’t be there in the room. There was a real sense of people drawing strength and positivity from each other and sharing thoughts on how best to face into some of the challenges ahead, as well as thrive off the optimism and opportunities our industry naturally generates.  

Key themes emerged around big issues – those of cost-of-living pressures, inclusion and well-being, sustainability, creativity’s power to respond in times of crisis, as well as the role of the office in 2023, or more importantly the value of people being together for a whole variety of reasons. All of these themes (and more) are sure to be at the heart of our work this year and they will be topics explored further at LEAD later this month.
