The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

THE #ANZSUMMIT: WE MUST GO FURTHER, FASTER

It’s been quite a week! On Wednesday and Thursday we held our second Ad Net Zero Global Summit, in London and online. Emerging from the 28 sessions and 66 speakers was an urgent message: the next few years are massive for taking action and accelerating this action ahead of our net zero pledges.

It was an inspiring and insightful two-day event and we would like to thank everyone involved. Special thanks go to Park Village, for lending us their amazing venue; to Geeta Pendse, who did a terrific job in hosting the event; to all our amazing speakers, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us; and last but not least, thank you to everyone who joined us in-person and online – the Summit couldn’t have happened without you.

We hope this Summit will help you renew your efforts to change the way we work, and change the work we make – to make a significant impact on the future of our planet.

Missed the Summit or want to catch up on any of the sessions? They will be available to watch on demand on our YouTube channel next week – make sure to check them out!

To coincide with our Global Summit, we also launched an updated Ad Net Zero Training and Guide. The training has now been refreshed for UK practitioners and there is a new international version, including information on global rules and regulations. You can check out the training here. The Ad Net Zero Guide has now been refreshed to help answer any questions industry professionals and companies have as they work to shift their businesses to a more sustainable footing. Check out the Guide here.

The week’s activities were covered in titles such as Campaign US, The Drum, The Media Leader, LBB & many more.

CHRISTMAS ADVERTISING SEASON IS HERE

The John Lewis ad arrived on Thursday morning, marking that Christmas advertising season is truly here. The poignant campaign signalled that advertisers taking part in this year’s Christmas advertising season are showcasing how their work makes a valuable social contribution, not just an economic one.

Have you ever thought about how historians one day could look at the Christmas ads to get an idea of what it was like to live each year? Our Comms Director Matt Bourn spoke to ITV about how Christmas ads are ‘nuggets of society’ and outlined the three different types of Christmas ads this season – you can check out the piece here.

CALLING ALL FREELANCERS – CREATIVE UK SURVEY

Creative UK has launched its UK-wide survey into freelancing, as part of its Redesigning Freelancing initiative. The survey, open to creative organisations as well as freelancers, will help provide evidence on working conditions that will help to spearhead industry-wide change.

The initiative, delivered in partnership with nine Combined Authorities, aims to reach creative communities across the UK and highlight the challenges that freelancers face locally and nationally.

We are helping spread the word to our members, along with other leading creative organisations such as Sky, BFI, IPSE, Freelancer Club, Scottish Ballet, March for the Arts, Society of Authors and many others getting behind the survey. It aims to shape industry standards, drive change and futureproof all parts of the work environment for freelancers across the sector to create greater long-term value and sustainability into the freelance ecology.

If you’d like to help us spread the word, head here for the partner pack.

Head here if you would like to take part in the survey, which is open until 9 January 2023.
