The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

FAREWELL TO ADLAND’S GREATEST PHILOSOPHER

Tributes were paid to “adland’s greatest philosopher”, Jeremy Bullmore, who passed away last week at the age of 93.

Our CEO, Stephen Woodford, paid this tribute: “Jeremy Bullmore’s nearly 70 year career in advertising was like no other – his wit and wisdom lit up so many campaigns, columns, books and conferences in all that time and I am so sad to hear the news of his passing away.

“As well as his remarkable service to JWT and WPP, he always found time to support others in the UK advertising industry and we are proud at the Advertising Association that he was our chair from 1981-87. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and by the many more who will have been entertained and informed by his work.”

IT’S A 10 FROM THE IPA!

It was the IPA President’s Reception this week, the first in three years and the first and last of the current president, Julian Douglas, VCCP.

The rooms of 44 Belgrave Square were filled with the industry’s creative and media leaders, there to recognise those who had received New Year Honours from the IPA and also to hear more about the president’s 10X strategy. Marks out of 10 were awarded in a Strictly Come Dancing style by a discerning panel of judges, headed up by the IPA’s DG, Paul Bainsfair. Impressive scoring ensued, marking the achievements of the IPA and its president during his tenure – Strictly’s King of Adland now hands the baton on to incoming president-to-be, Josh Krichefski, EssenceMediacom.
