The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

OUR 2022 UK ADVERTISING EXPORTS REPORT IS NOW LIVE

Yesterday, we published our 2022 UK Advertising Exports Report.

Launched with the support of the Department of International Trade (DIT) and the UK Advertising Export Group (UKAEG), the report shows that international trade in UK advertising and market research services was worth £11.7bn in 2020, sustaining the same level as the pre-pandemic conditions of 2019. Considering the challenges our industry faced during the global lockdown, these figures are encouraging. Balance of payments remained steady, bringing the UK a healthy £5bn trade surplus.

The data also shows that the US remains the largest recipient of UK exports, followed by Spain and then Germany. Mike Freer MP, Minister for Exports, commented: “The advertising industry deserves recognition for its effort and hard work to maintain £11.7bn export revenue in 2020, a tremendous performance during such a challenging period.”

You can read more and download a copy of the report here. The news was also covered widely in the media including in CampaignThe DrumCity A.M. and more.

IMPROVING THE EXPERIENCE AND REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN

On Wednesday, we held the first All In how-to session for our second phase of the All In Action Plan.

The session focused on Action 4 – to improve the experience and representation of women – and how to take the Flexible First Checklist.

Action 4 was developed as a response to the data gathered by the All In Census, which showed how flexible working can help level the playing field, aiding career progression and giving women more opportunities to access senior roles.

We were lucky to hear from some incredible speakers, who gave us inspiring insights on flexible working and its challenges/benefits.

You can read a summary of the event here or watch it on demand here.
