The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

LESS THAN A WEEK TO GO

There is now less than one week to go before we host #RENEW2022 in partnership with the IPA and ISBA!

We are really looking forward to opening the (virtual) doors and seeing lots of you there. We will be broadcasting RENEW live from our special studio if London where our host Nina Hossain will deliver a packed morning of content to help set the agenda for the coming year.

We have an absolutely stellar line-up of speakers. We recently announced the addition of John Pienaar, Times Radio Drive Presenter, who will give a political keynote, and don’t forget to catch Alessandra Bellini, Chief Customer Officer at Tesco, who will be making her first public speaking appearance as our President.

RENEW 2022 will deep-dive into topics such as UK advertising’s super power and social contribution; what changes are needed in our fight against the climate emergency and how we can make them happen; the new three actions that form our All In Action Plan to build an inclusive workplace; building back a better industry; and improving the public’s experience of advertising.

Join over 500 advertising professionals and book your ticket to come along. Discounts are available for members and under 30s.

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR 2021 ANNUAL REVIEW

We are very proud to share our 2021 Annual Review with you!

We have been working hard behind the scenes to produce the report and we are so excited to be publishing it. It covers our work on behalf of our members over the past twelve months – another extraordinary year, I think we will all agree.

This year’s Annual Review looks at how our industry is striving to build back better from the Covid-19 pandemic; our work to rebuild public trust in advertising; the All In Census and Action Plan to create a workplace where everyone belongs; Ad Net Zero and our response to the climate emergency; our Public Affairs work around key areas including HFSS; the drive to promote UK advertising to the world; Media Smart; and much more.

Our Chief Executive, Stephen Woodford, commented: “In 2021 the UK advertising industry demonstrated its vitality once again with the world-leading rebound in ad investment. Rapid recovery did not distract from progress and deep member engagement with our programmes to make our industry more inclusive, sustainable and trusted. All of us at the AA are very proud of what we have achieved collectively with our members.”

MEETING WITH OUR COMMS COLLEAGUES

On Thursday morning we hosted our twice-yearly MarComms leaders meeting for our members. It was great to see so many familiar faces on our screens, but we were definitely all in agreement that next time we meet we hope it’s in person. Our fingers are crossed!

Our comms team gave an update on our key workstreams including Trust, Inclusion, Climate Action, international trade, and much more. They also highlighted key dates and opportunities for collaboration. Thanks to all who attended. If you’d like to know more, contact Ellie.
