We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

About Ad Net Zero

In November 2020, we launched Ad Net Zero, an industry-wide initiative to help UK advertising respond to the climate crisis caused by CO2 emissions. Ad Net Zero’s mission is for immediate, collective industry action to help achieve real net-zero carbon emissions from the development, production, and media placement of advertising by the end of 2030.

About the role

The certification manager will be responsible for managing and implementing the Ad Net Zero certification standard for the supporters of the programme. The certification will be an industry-first gold standard, measuring the progress supporters are making across the Ad Net Zero 5-Point Action Plan.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Managing the certification programme to a high standard, encouraging, and ensuring all 100+ supporters submit the required data on an annual basis.
  • Analysing the data (quant and qual) to ensure each supporter receives the correct level of certification, along with a suggested plan of action in-line with current guidance.
  • Managing the certification platform and suggesting ideas for development and improvement, including troubleshooting any issues and improving the user experience.
  • Regularly carrying out competitor and market analyses and benchmarking against our approach and offering. Reviewing and analysing the methodology and criteria to ensure the certification delivers results in line with market developments and industry wants and needs.
  • Carrying out focus group testing with supporters and working closely with procurement teams and external validation partner.
  • Setting up and managing the certification process for other territories.
  • Designing and developing certification 2.0 with the help of the wider Ad Net Zero team.
  • Ensuring the certification meets current data protection laws and guidance.
  • Presenting progress regularly to supporters and the Ad Net Zero team.
  • Carrying out any training and contributing to marketing collateral.
  • Managing and tracking the annual certification budget.

Requirements and skills

  • Experienced in managing large-scale projects and data sets.
  • Experienced in successfully delivering projects on time and on budget (ideally an IT/web-based/database project)
  • Working knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project and Tableau
  • Understands the broader context of climate action and its context within the advertising industry
  • Understands the broader business need for climate action and the way businesses are currently measuring their performance, (i.e through environmental certifications)
  • Have strong organisational and project management skills
  • Have a proactive and problem-solving attitude to work
  • Be self-motivated and good at motivating others

Terms of employment

  • Initially, a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract role with a view to a permanent role on a longer-term basis.
  • Salary, 40K per annum.
