Media Business Course 2023 – The Finale

Industry News

Our 2023 Media Business Course wrapped up in style with each syndicate presenting their pitches for the client’s brief to our expert judging panel.

But before the pitches and the reveal of the winner, delegates had the opportunity to learn about anchoring creativity to the heart of their pitch.

Thursday, day three, of MBC was all about creativity and inspiration. The day began with an introduction from our MBC convenor, Jehan Shah from Google. This was followed by the first session on how creativity is key to progress, delivered by Kevin Chesters from Harbour.

The second session was filled with surprise, science and ridiculousness – designed to unlock the delegates’ creativity. The session was delivered by Amy Kean from Good Shout.

Day three also saw the announcement of judges, and ended with an excellent gala dinner and a DJ set from Jay London from Capital XTRA.

Our MBC finally came to an end on Friday with the much-awaited pitch day!

The day started off with an announcement of the shortlisted syndicates and some feedback from the judges. After a competitive morning of presentations, the judges decided the winner was syndicate 9, whose mix of strategy, planning and creativity captivated the judges. Syndicate 9 was made up of Chloe Bargery, Times Media; Josh Freedman, JAA; Sinead Griffin, Wavemaker; Sarah-Jane May, Ocean Outdoor; Raine Mooney, ITV; Ajesh Patel, Google; Iman Sid, Clearcast and Ollie Stokes, TikTok.

A massive congratulations goes out not only to syndicate 9 but also to everyone who attended MBC 2023.

Thank you to everyone involved in what was a brilliant week in Brighton, including our inspirational speakers, judges, and delegates. We could not have done it without you!

We hope everyone had a brilliant time in Brighton and came away feeling inspired whilst taking some valuable insights with them. Till next time!
