Following the launch of our All In Action Plan in June, this is the third of a series of deeper dives into each Action. This session went through the key findings from the All In Census regarding the representation and experience of Black people within the industry as well as how to use, and get the most out of the BRiM (Black Representation in Marketing) framework.
BRiM is a collection of tools and resources that is available for everyone to use in order to improve the representation of Black people in marketing, both on and off screen. BRiM provides actionable advice to help anyone, no matter their level, improve the representation of Black people in marketing. You can find it here.
Attendees heard from those who have already begun to adopt BRiM within their organisation and they were given the opportunity to ask questions as well as finding out how to access further support.
The session included a fantastic line-up of speakers:
Toby Horry shared TUI’s huge efforts to increase diversity both within their external advertising materials and salso their internal communications with the development of new guidelines.
Reg Amoah gave an insight to the sponsorship programme at OMG, and how it creates opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to progress, its positive effects and how this initiative was welcomed in their agencies.
Sophia Haynes from IAB talked us through how they are encouraging the use of minority owned sites as well as sites that target , diverse communities. To help the challenges organisations like these face on a daily basis, the IAB have developed a free bespoke guide to the rudimentary elements of digital advertising.
As a final point, it was encouraged that everyone take a look at the framework and start taking action today.
Huge thanks to all our speakers and attendees, you can watch all 3 of our ‘How To’ sessions on demand here or head to our All In Hub for more information.
