BREAKFAST & POLITICS WITH OUR FRONT FOOT MEMBERS
On Tuesday, we held an exclusive breakfast event for our Front Foot members at The Pregnant Man – Saatchi & Saatchi’s advertising landmark pub – in partnership with WA Communications.
It was great to welcome Steve Richards, Broadcaster and Journalist & author of Prime Ministers: Reflections on Leadership; Amy Fisher, Director, WA Communications & former Special Adviser in five different Government departments and Rhoda Macdonald, WA Partner & former Broadcaster and Labour Special Adviser.
The panel provided a fantastic update on the political landscape of the UK and held a Q&A session, where members had the chance to pose their own questions. Topics discussed included the electoral significance of Scotland at the next General Election, how ex-Government ministers manage political comebacks as well as how to best communicate your own political narratives.
It concluded with tips on how to best demonstrate the value of advertising industry and creativity to the Government and Opposition.
A massive thank you to WA Communications and our fantastic panel and attendees for such a brilliant start to the working day, at this very interesting moment of time in British politics.

#timeTo CHRISTMAS SEASON
This Monday, our Inclusion Lead & Commercial Director, Sharon Lloyd Barnes, attended a special screening of She Said, the new film telling the story of Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, the two journalists who brought Harvey Weinstein’s offences to light, leading to his arrest. This is a powerful story shattering decades of silence around sexual assault, harassment and NDAs.
The screening was co-hosted by our Front Foot Member DCM, and started with an introduction by Sue Todd, CEO, NABS about timeTo, the industry’s initiative to eradicate sexual harassment in the UK ad industry, launched in 2018 by the AA, WACL and NABS.
In case you missed it, Sharon joined a panel earlier this year to talk about timeTo and our inclusion initiative All In. The panel also comprised singer Rebecca Ferguson, who’s been the force behind the creation of the Independent Standards Authority: a new body that we are forming alongside DCMS whose aim is to investigate the most severe cases of bullying, harassment and discrimination across the music, film, TV and fashion industries.
As Christmas party season is officially upon us, we wanted to remind you of the importance of tackling sexual harassment and protecting our colleagues. A couple of weeks ago, timeTo’s Christmas film, which spotlights sexual harassment during the season, was our ad of the week. We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the short video and reflect on how you can support your colleagues. Check it out here.
