The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

AA’s RECEPTION OVERLOOKING THE OLD BAILEY

Our President’s Reception was held on Tuesday at the IPG Mediabrands offices, where we were delighted to gather our members, colleagues and industry friends for the evening.

The reception began with an introduction from our CEO, Stephen Woodford, and was followed by a speech by our President, Alessandra Bellini, also Chief Customer Office at Tesco. Alessandra reflected on all we have achieved in the year so far including holding LEAD – our first in-person industry summit since 2020, launching our Talent Report, the response to the All In Census and the All In Summit, our progress with our initiative – Ad Net Zero, exports figures, and our successful trade mission to SXSW and Cannes Lions.

At the same time, she also focused on what’s coming next, which includes new research on trust from Credos, LEAD Scotland, and the Campaign Ad Net Zero Awards.

The speech was followed by drinks, canapés and a great amount of networking with a stunning view of the Old Bailey and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Thank you to everyone who could join us!

CREATIVITY IN THE UK IS BOOMING!

TIME magazine has released an article focusing on the UK’s creative economy, with some excellent commentary from our partners at the Department for Business and Trade, plus VCCP’s international CEO and our export champion Julian Douglas.

“The UK is a creative superpower. Advertising is a crown jewel of our creative industries; admired, desired and bought by nations all over the world,” says Dougie.

The piece goes on to explain how “Business is certainly booming in the UK—which was demonstrated by the UK’s successful showing at Cannes Lions 2023. These wins illustrate its global influence, with the advertising sector’s impact symbolizing how the UK is shaping the future of creative industries throughout the world.”

Our latest research shows that our industry exported £15bn in advertising and market research services in 2021 — a 33% year-on-year increase. We were delighted to see TIME has featured some of our UK Advertising Exports Group members – VCCP, Fold7 and Crowd – and their thoughts on why our industry continues to captivate the world.
