The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

DID YOU SEE US AT ADVERTISING WEEK EUROPE?

This week, we were super excited to be at Advertising Week Europe alongside our industry peers. It has been a busy but fabulous week! As well as seeing familiar faces and going to some brilliant discussions, we also hosted a couple of our own sessions…

On Tuesday, we headed to the Carlton Club for the UK Advertising Exports Reception. We had a fantastic panel discussion on securing the next decade of growth, making the most of digital advertising, why to export to the UK and much more. You can read more about it here.

On Wednesday, we held a session on ‘How can advertising help build a net zero economy?’ with inspiring insights and advice on how to start your path to net zero. Our panel highlighted the importance of education around the climate crisis. Speaking of which, don’t forget that you can easily learn more by taking the Ad Net Zero Essentials Certificate.

We also held, together with PwC and WFA, a Sustainable Leadership Lunch. Our attendees had the chance to listen to football superstar Rio Ferdinand, Sue Fennessy – Founder & CEO, WeAre8; Seb Munden – Chair, Ad Net Zero and EVP & General Manager, Unilever UK&I; and Sam Tomlinson, UK Media and Entertainment Leader, PwC.

Sophie Broadbent, Training and Development Manager, AdGreen, also took the stage at Advertising Week Europe on Thursday. Her workshop focused on reducing carbon emissions from advertising production and the key steps to take – such as using AdGreen’s Carbon Calculator. In case you missed it, you can watch the Carbon Calculator Walkthrough webinars on demand here.

If you are still curious about what else we were up to at Advertising Week Europe, you can head here and read all about it.

THE CAMPAIGN AD NET ZERO AWARDS ARE HERE!

As if we didn’t have enough on this week, on Tuesday we launched the Campaign Ad Net Zero Awards.

In case you don’t know – Ad Net Zero is our industry-wide initiative to reach net zero by end 2030. Launched in 2020, it already counts more than 100 supporters, comprising advertisers, agencies, commercial media owners and production companies. You can read more about the Ad Net Zero initiative here.

Back to the awards…

The Campaign Ad Net Zero Awards will recognise work from across the advertising industry which is driving behaviour change to promote more sustainable ways of living in the face of the climate crisis. Entries will be open to the whole industry, with the ultimate aim to accelerate work in this area.

There will be a range of sector-specific categories as well as awards to celebrate innovation, such as the most green ad production, media planning process, event and business transformation. The awards will culminate in a coveted Campaign of the Year, with the winner drawn from across all entries.

Benefit from Early Bird access by submitting your entry before July 14. You can learn all about the awards here and find the official page for applications here.

PROGRAMMATIC PIONEERS PRESENTS…

We are proud to be a media partner for the Programmatic Pioneers Summit – the largest programmatic marketing conference and it is taking place next week – May 24-25 – at the Tower Hotel in London. Make sure you don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn from and collaborate with Europe’s leaders in digital media.

Over the course of two days, leaders from top European companies will unleash the power of a cookieless future, first party data, identity, contextual targeting, measurement performance & ROI, CTV & video. Our inclusion working group member, Sarah Jenkins of Saatchi & Saatchi, is speaking at the session ‘Unlocking the power of inclusion and diversity’ at 15.40pm on the first day. This panel discussion will ask the question: How can our industry ensure minority-owned companies have a chance to compete and collaborate on more inclusive sustainable media to reach multicultural audiences?

Make sure you don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn from and collaborate with Europe’s leaders in digital media.

THE RED MIST BY BLOOM UK

Nex Thursday, May 26th, Bloom UK will hold The Red Mist, an event on channeling anger for positive change. The session is designed to leave the audience more comfortable with feeling anger and more empowered to voice it – the anger within us, if rightly channeled, can create positive transformative change.

Speakers for the event include Dr Meenal Viz, Elizabeth Anyaegbuna, Diane Danzebrink and Nicky Clark.

Make sure you don’t miss this event by signing up here – all profits from ticket sales will go to Bloom’s charity partner, Women’s Aid.  You can also learn more about the event here.

GUESS WHO’S BACK, BACK AGAIN

On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome our AA Council to our new office on Berners Street in London, for the first in-person meeting for two years!

It was great to see our Council members and talk about the pandemic recovery, our inclusion and climate initiatives, and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

We have a brand new board room that is ready to be used regularly. If you want to swing by or arrange an in-person/hybrid meeting with us, please do!
