AD NET ZERO MAKES ITS MARK IN THE BIG APPLE
This week in the Big Apple, we were delighted to announce that PubMatic and Reckitt have joined our Ad Net Zero Global Group.
Team ANZ revealed the news at a VIP reception at the British Consulate hosted by His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for North America, Emma Wade-Smith OBE, along with Advertising Week Chairman, Matt Scheckner.
The reception gathered more than 80 US advertising industry leaders who came together to address the climate crisis. Head here to read the full write-up from the ground in New York.
We were also proud to present our climate action ambitions to an audience in the Innovation Factory of Advertising Week NY. The session was hosted by John Osborn, our newly appointed USA Director, who was joined by Kantar’s Carlyn Kelly, Google’s Sadie Thoma and IPG’s Jemma Gould.
As John put it, “the clock is ticking and we have to move fast”.
Since the launch of the Ad Net Zero Global Group at LIONS this summer, 23 leading organisations in advertising – including major trade bodies and the world’s six biggest agency holding groups – have signed up for the initiative with the aim of galvanising international action to decarbonise ad operations.
The news was also covered in PR Week, Adage, AdWeek & many more! Head to adnetzero.com to find out all about how to support us.
Meanwhile, our Comms Director Matt Bourn has penned a piece for The Drum exploring the UK government and advertising industry’s role in deploying behaviour change campaigns to tackle the climate crisis. Read all about it here.
ON THE RESIGNATION OF LIZ TRUSS
Following the news that Liz Truss has resigned as Tory Party Leader, we await the appointment of the next Prime Minister. Yesterday, our CEO Stephen Woodford issued this statement:
“We look forward to working with the new Prime Minister and Cabinet to help our sector weather the turbulent times and ensure we continue to play our vital role in the UK economy”.
Head here to read the full statement.
SAVE THE DATE! THE ALL IN CENSUS RETURNS
Our next All In Census, along with the IPA and ISBA, will take place on Wednesday 15 March. We are asking everyone in the industry to take 15 minutes on March 15 to answer this anonymous survey.
It is fantastic to see what a difference just 15 minutes can make, helping us guide the UK advertising industry in building a workplace where everyone feels they belong.
Over 16,000 people across the UK advertising ecosystem responded to the first All In Census, held during the lockdown of March 2021. The data helped build the most detailed understanding yet of the industry’s make-up and shaped the All In Action Plan, a series of nine actions which companies across the industry are encouraged to implement.
So far, an amazing 83 companies have become All In Champions by successfully providing evidence showing they have implemented all nine actions.
Do you want to become an All In Champion? Applications are always open and you can submit yours here.
The news was covered by titles including Campaign, The Media Leader & Creative Brief – you can head here to find out more.
Y’ALL READY FOR SXSW 2023?
Are you ready to join over 400,000 people at the biggest global meeting for the creative community? We for sure are. We’re delighted that we are heading to Austin, Texas, for SXSW on 10-14 March.
And since we want as much company as possible for the festival… the UK Advertising Exports Group (UKAEG) and the Department for International Trade (DIT) are currently calling for all UK creative companies looking to grow their business to join them on their respective SXSW 2023 Trade Missions.
Every year, the US buys a staggering £1.2bn worth of the UK’s advertising and marketing exports. UKAEG wants to go bigger in 2023 and help support the global growth of its members. For the first time, this year UKAEG companies have put forward over 20 Panel Picker submissions following an intensive bootcamp to help curate talks ready for the main stage. If you’re curious about UK House’s plans at SXSW… keep your eyes peeled around mid-November, when UKAEG will be announcing their plans.
Demand is expected to be high and spaces will be allocated early as a result, so apply for your place here now. But don’t just take our word for it… Hear from UKAEG members who took part in SXSW 2022 in this video here.
And you can drop a line to our International Trade Director, Aisling Conlon, if you have any questions!
LAST FEW DAYS TO BECOME A CANNES LIONS’ JUROR
As UK representative for LIONS, we are responsible for putting forward UK jurors for the festival, which takes place on 19-23 June, 2023, in Cannes, France.
Do you have what it takes to be a Cannes Lions juror or know someone who does? Then submit your nominations before Tuesday, October 25. You can find all the details and download the nomination form here.
We look forward to seeing your nominations and wish you the best of luck!
And in other Cannes news… this Monday we had the pleasure of attending the LIONS Representatives Meeting.
It was great to get together with our fellow Cannes representatives from across the world, sharing insights and expectations for the next International Festival of Creativity.
Our brilliant Events Director Suzanne Costello was also in action reflecting on Ad Net Zero’s initial global launch at LIONS in a presentation to our fellow reps. We’ve come far since June!
