The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

OUR YEAR IN REVIEW

It features essays from our President, Keith Weed, on rebuilding public trust in advertising; our Chair, Philippa Brown, on a pivotal year for our industry; Front Foot Chair, Mark Evans, looks at the past year for our industry network; and Credos Chair, James Best, delves deeper into another exciting year for advertising’s think tank. Other topics include our Public Affairs programme, the launch of our new UK Advertising Export Group, our extensive networking and events calendar, plus the many benefits of being one of our members!

HAVING A WALES OF A TIME

Our Public Affairs and Comms teams went to Cardiff on Wednesday to meet Welsh Assembly Conservative members including Health Spokesperson Angela Burns, Business Spokesperson Russell George and Janet Finch-Saunders.They discussed the Welsh Government’s newly launched health plan: ‘Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales delivery plan 2020 – 2022’. This includes proposals to ban all OOH ads which feature HFSS food by 2030 and we will be engaging further on the proposals going forward.

TIMETO LAUNCHES NEW TRAINING

It was great to attend NABS’ annual President’s Breakfast on Tuesday morning and to hear more about the fabulous work this organisation does on behalf of the UK advertising industry – a huge congratulations to Diana Tickell, Chief Executive of NABS and her team for another brilliant year.

The event included the launch of a brand new timeTo training programme to educate employers and staff about the issue to tackle sexual harassment in the advertising industry. The interactive group sessions will be led by expert trainers who work in the areas of sexual harassment and gender-based violence and will visit participating offices and offer tools and information to help identify and report inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.
