Nae bad from an ad
An expedition composed of the AA’s most experienced and tenacious operators ventured north of the border this week. In the face of proposed increased restrictions on advertising from Holyrood their mission brought together brands, agencies and media at Whitespace’s Edinburgh base camp.
Beneath the towering Edinburgh Castle, Brian Coane, Front Foot Scotland’s chair, opened with the results of the inaugural Advertising Pays Scotland campaign from May this year, followed by AA CEO, Stephen Woodford, presenting the results of the new Advertising Pays 6 report, World Class Advertising, World Class Talent.
A path was successfully plotted for putting a strong case for advertising to Scottish influencers and political decision makers. For a full debrief check out the write up.
LEAD the way…
Our annual industry summit LEAD returns on January 25th. We’ll gather again for one action-packed morning to discuss the economic, social and political challenges ahead for our sector. And, with the UK / EU negotiations at a critical stage, this year we’ve focused our theme on ‘Growth beyond Brexit’.
We’ll be bringing together stakeholders in the UK advertising industry with key policymakers to join our speakers as they share and debate their views on how to overcome the obstacles ahead.
You can join a stellar cast of presenters and panellists, including: The Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP, Secretary of State for International Trade; Vicky Pryce, former Joint Head of the United Kingdom’s Government Economic Service; Lindsay Pattison Chief Transformation Officer WPP; James Wildman, CEO, Hearst UK; and Andy Street, Conservative Mayor of the West Midlands focuses on the key issues arising from regional growth.
If you want to nab a space alongside advertising’s industry leaders, head this way for more information on bookings.
A warm welcome
This Tuesday we were treated to the Government’s hotly anticipated and snappily titled ‘Proposals for changes to Gaming Machines and Social Responsibility Measures’.
Amongst a smorgasbord of options up for consultation, our proposals, along with the gambling bodies and broadcasters, for a responsible gambling ad campaign were warmly received. Running across live sport, television, radio, cinema, print and online, the campaign will raise public awareness of the risks associated with gambling.
The AA’s response is live now on our site and if you want any more info on this then don’t hesitate to drop Kate a line! And keep your eyes peeled for more new CAP guidance on gambling advertising in the New Year!
You’ve read the whole thing! You deserve a treat – our ad of the week:
