A SPORTY SUMMER IN ADLAND 🌞🍉

This week, brands all over the country were celebrating the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 victory. The triumph captured the nation as Wembley was packed with the largest capacity for a women’s football match in history, totalling 87,192.

Further viewing records were smashed as 17.4 million people tuned in to see England beat Germany 2-1 after extra time, with a further 5.9 million people streaming the match online and more fans gathering up and down the country, watching from fan-zones, pubs, and gardens.

Adland has of course played its part across the tournament with an array of creative campaigns to help inspire the country. Here are some of the ads we’ve loved, and the ways famous brands have been celebrating the win:

Royal Mail ‘posted’ their congratulations to the Lionesses on Twitter with a brilliant take on football’s coming home.

Specsavers created a spectacular OOH campaign near Wembley Stadium, playing up to an eye test, which reads ‘It’s coming home.’

GWR gave the Lionesses ‘pride of place’ on their Intercity Express Train 800316.

Sainsbury’s took a turn on Neil Diamond’s classic tune ‘Sweet Caroline’ with a very amusing billboard ad titled ‘Sing it for the Lionesses’.

Meanwhile, sporting success continued in Birmingham with the Commonwealth Games in full swing, with highlights including Gold heptathlon success from England’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson. As ever, advertising wasn’t far behind, and our UK Advertising Exports Group headed to Birmingham, opening UK House 2022 to showcase the very best of CreaTech. Head to LinkedIn to find out more.
