The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

Ad Matters 12.07.24

/ July 12th 2024 / Matt Bourn
Industry News

It’s a very special edition of Ad Matters this week, dedicated to our England team who have successfully battled their way to the Euro 2024 final! There have been some magical moments already, Ollie’s turn-and-shoot match winner just the latest to add to those incredible penalties (here’s looking at you, Ivan) and Jude’s overhead stunner that rescued us from ignominious defeat in the early knockout stages.

The success of our national team brings a welcome boost, not just in the country’s morale but in a clear economic uplift. Our friends at WARC have provided some nuggets about how much money will be spent as the team pursue the ultimate prize while millions of us tune in to watch their exploits. They’re predicting £50m worth of ad spend on TV spots and BVOD services such as ITVX, so the national team’s progress seems sure to have a positive effect on many media owners including out of home and radio, as well as online formats such as social media and instream video. The great sports events regularly see brands looking to support our sporting heroes in the most creative ways possible – we’ve pulled together a special look at some of the different campaigns which you can see here.

Can we do it against Spain this Sunday? Who knows, but if you’re going to be the best in a tournament, at some point you’ve got to beat the best of the rest, haven’t you… Moments like this I look to Ted Lasso and simple say ‘believe’.
