The Advertising Association promotes the role and rights of responsible advertising and its value to people, society, businesses and the economy. We represent UK advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies on behalf of the entire industry, acting as the connection between industry professionals and the politicians and policy-makers.

A A A

The Advertising Association focuses on major industry and policy areas that have huge ramifications on UK advertising. This section contains our work around public health, gambling advertising, data and e-privacy, trust, the digital economy and more.

Credos is the advertising industry’s independent think tank. It produces research, evidence and reports into the impact and effectiveness of and public and political response to advertising on behalf of UK advertisers in order to enable the industry to make informed decisions.

Front Foot is our industry’s member network of over 90 businesses across UK advertising. It aims to promote the role of responsible advertising and its value to people, society and the economy through a coalition of senior leaders from advertisers, agencies and media owners.

We run a number of events throughout the year, from our annual LEAD summit to the Media Business Course and regular breakfast briefings for our members. We are also the official UK representative for the world’s biggest festival of creativity – Cannes Lions.

#timeTo AT CHRISTMAS 🎄

‘Tis the season for festivities, and of course the annual office Christmas party!

Christmas party season is a great time of year and a chance for colleagues to come together and celebrate Christmas and the year’s work. Yet, sadly, it can sometimes become a source of discomfort and apprehension.

Let’s be honest: Sexual harassment is not a distant issue—it’s still happening, and it demands our immediate attention. Everyone deserves to enjoy the festive season free from sexual harassment, assault, or abuse.

Check out Nabs’ feature in The Media Leader for invaluable tips on creating a joyful and harassment-free office Christmas party here.

CONGRATULATIONS, AND CELEBRATIONS! 🏆

More awards across our industry as the end of the year approaches and we look for the best examples of the industry’s work. Magnetic announced its winners of its Spotlight Awards (which were judged by industry folk including our Communications Director, Matt Bourn) with Chanel winning Client of the Year. Full line-up here.

Meanwhile, fellow marketing trade body, Newsworks, celebrated its awards on Tuesday night at the lovely 12th Knot, top floor of Sea Containers, where advertisers, agencies and newsbrands gathered to recognise the best of the industry’s work. Lidl picked up Advertiser of the year and the winning line-up can be seen here.

Congrats to all involved in the organising, judging, entering and winning!

UKAEG HOST INAUGURAL UK & CHINA ADVERTISING SUMMIT

This week our UK Advertising Exports Group (UKAEG) hosted the inaugural China and UK Advertising Summit in London and Manchester. Over three days they ran several meetings with UK Advertising and marketing-related services companies to foster collaboration, strengthen ties between the UKAEG & Shanghai International Advertising Festival (SHIAF) and explore potential collaborations for the 2024 SHIAF event. This gathering served as an excellent opportunity for companies to be on the radar of SHIAF, DBT UK and China who partnered with UKAEG on this event.

Attendees from China included Shanghai International Advertising Festival colleagues and their guests and they enjoyed a packed schedule featuring presentations by UKAEG members such as Adrian Coleman, Group CEO, VCCP & Group Co-Chief Executive Chime, Michael Moosynski, Founder & CEO, London Advertising, Leonie Moreton, Managing Director, Coffee&TV, Stephen Maher, Chair & CEO, MBAstack, Will Grundy, Head of Planning, adam&eveDDB, Philippa Clayre, WPP Government & Public Sector Practice Executive Director, UK & MENA and many more.

The summit culminated in a networking lunch with exclusive access to London’s newest Town House, Broadwick Soho. Over lunch Aisling Conlon, International Trade Director for UK Advertising informed the attendees that UK Advertising exported over £15.6B of marketing services around the world and that we welcomed China to join the top 10 countries working with us.

Mr. Du, President of SHIAF and the Shanghai Advertising Association, extended a formal invitation for UKAEG’s participation in SHIAF next year in September. Details of a Trade Mission to Shanghai will be announced in the new year as the Summit heads to China for year two.

Any companies interested in finding out how they can get involved should contact International Trade Director, Aisling Conlon.
