BACK IN BRIGHTON FOR MBC 2022!
After three years, we headed down to Brighton for the return of the prestigious Media Business Course (MBC) at the Grand Hotel.
MBC is a key event for industry professionals and practitioners who want to gain insights, learn and develop by taking advice from industry leaders and experts on how the media planning world operates. Following the results of the All In Census, this year’s MBC was addressed at practitioners with 4-5 years’ experience. In case you missed it, here’s a brief recap on what our delegates were up to this week…
On the first day, Tuesday, our delegates arrived at the Grand Hotel to start their week with insights on the importance of media planning and how to create a successful strategy for a client brief. This was such a necessary session, just ahead of the reveal of this year’s brief – a media plan for Burger King – which they had to pitch at the end of the week in front of a judging panel. You can read more about Day 1 here.
Wednesday was our media day, giving the delegates the opportunity to explore the media landscape so they can create an excellent pitch and media plan. The talks included leaders from mediums such as radio, OOH, web-search, cinema and TV advertising. Each speaker gave a compelling pitch as to why their medium is the most competitive in our industry. You can read more about Day 2 here or check out our Instagram reel!
Thursday’s focus was on creativity and inspiration. Talks from industry experts and experienced professionals were centred on how they harnessed the power of creativity to be part of their success in the industry.
Finally on Friday, it was pitching day! After a competitive morning of presentations and judges’ scrutinising the best plans – it was revealed that Syndicate 12 was the winner, with Natasha Burgess, BBC; Bruno McKay, Digital Cinema Media; Jack Brogden, Global; Nicola Hill, ITV; Chris Chaney, Sky Media; Greg Highton, DMG Media; Jimmy Hills, Global; Anthony Brown, OMD; Joe Gilbert, Astus; and Ben Basnett, PAMCo Ltd. Congratulations to the winning team and thank you to all the speakers, judges and delegates for their hard work!

On Wednesday night, ThinkBox and Campaign hosted their TV Planning Awards, celebrating the best of TV advertising.
